For more than twenty years, CDJs have reigned supreme in clubs and festivals all over the world. From the legendary CDJ-500 launched in 1994 to the CDJ-3000 released in 2020, they have come through every technological revolution without ever losing their status as the standard. In the popular imagination as in the booths of the biggest DJs, a CDJ is much more than a player: it is the reference tool, the one that shaped modern DJ culture.
On Tuesday 9 September 2025, AlphaTheta unveiled the CDJ-3000X, a new generation of player that aims to mark a turning point in booths all over the world. A direct heir to the CDJ-3000, it keeps everything that made its predecessor a success while taking the experience further. The idea is simple: give DJs a more connected, more intuitive and more reliable tool, able to meet today’s needs.

The big change is its complete opening up to the cloud and streaming. No more need for cables or bulky physical media: built-in Wi-Fi gives access to Beatport, TIDAL or rekordbox in a matter of seconds, and an NFC point on the player allows an instant connection from a smartphone. We are moving from a world where you carried your music around to one where you connect to it, anywhere, any time.

In use, the experience is more comfortable. The 10.1-inch touchscreen makes browsing smoother and displays more tracks, while playlists can now be edited directly from the deck. Hot Cues have also been redesigned to open up new creative possibilities, from momentary playing with Gate Cue to quick preparation with Smart Cue. Even reliability has been reworked: every track is fully cached, guaranteeing uninterrupted playback, even if a USB stick is pulled out or the connection drops.
The CDJ-3000X doesn’t just shake up the technical side, it also embodies a cultural shift. Just as the CD replaced vinyl, and then USB redefined how sets are prepared, the arrival of the cloud looks like a given for a generation of DJs who want to travel light and keep their music available at all times. Priced at €2,799, the new player confirms its high-end positioning and is already establishing itself as the next standard for clubs and festivals.
