“Just Call”, the single by Prince Fox and Bella Thorne, who is also known for her acting and modelling, tells the story of an unstable relationship. Released last June on Steve Aoki’s label Dim Mak, the track now gets its remix pack, which features French producer Gianni Kosta. He reworks the track his own way and pulls off the perfect marriage between Fox and Thorne’s world and his own.
Gianni Kosta keeps racking up prestigious remixes, which makes him one of the most in-demand French remixers. Even so, he hasn’t forgotten to work on a few originals: he is reportedly preparing a new single with singer Dragonette, who has featured on several collaborations with Martin Solveig, among others. The track should come out in early 2018.
The original version of “Just Call”:
In a recent video published by Billboard, the famous American music industry magazine, Prince Fox and Bella Thorne revealed that part of “Just Call” was recorded in the bathroom of a karaoke bar in Canada:
“It all started with a red jacket. ‘I was wearing a red jacket and she told me she really liked it,’ Fox explains. The next day, scrolling through Snapchat, Fox realised that the girl who had admired his clothes was none other than Bella Thorne.
Fox then reached out to Thorne by sending her a song he felt suited her well. Then he went into the studio, where Thorne told him his voice would also be interesting to add. ‘After getting to know you and hearing your lyrics, we had to do a duet,’ Thorne tells Fox.
According to the pair, the ‘craziest’ part of the recording was the way most of the vocals were captured, since it wasn’t done in a real studio. Fox was recorded in a Guitar Center in Boston during a thunderstorm, while Thorne was recorded in the bathroom of a karaoke bar in Canada. ‘I felt really lonely, sad,’ she says.”
