A few months after the highly cinematic “The Adventurer”, Simon Henner picks up the thread of his story. On “Keep Me Closer”, the second single from his upcoming album, French 79 reunites with Terror Jr, the American duo he met on his last tour across the Atlantic, where the group opened for him across the United States. A meeting turned collaboration, in which the Frenchman’s signature arpeggios intertwine with Lisa Vitale’s voice in an airy, sensory atmosphere. If “The Adventurer” told of the ego dissolving in the face of immensity, “Keep Me Closer” writes what comes next: the need for human contact once the storm has passed. A soft and deeply romantic interlude, which throws the doors of the American market wide open for one of the most singular French electronic songwriters around.
