Thanks to a perfect balance, “Wrong Way” will win you over as much with the delicacy of its melody as with its catchy Beat. The catchy guitar and the singer’s gentle cover blend into one. Combining skill and sincerity, this latest single from Parisian producer Stone Van Brooken is already in the top 15 of the German and Greek iTunes Dance Charts, even though it has only just come out. A great achievement that rewards a long stretch of work, and Stone Van Brooken shares a few of its secrets.

Your new single has just come out, which is always hugely satisfying personally. How are you feeling right now?

I’m really happy that this track is finally out, I worked on it a huge amount, so it’s both a relief and a source of pride to be able to share it. It had been a while since I’d released anything, so there’s often a kind of apprehension when you come back with a new track. I always ask myself a lot of questions before each release, whether people will be receptive or not, etc., but I try (as best I can!) not to overthink it and to stay optimistic and enthusiastic!

“Wrong Way”? What does it mean to Stone Van Brooken?

To me, “Wrong Way” (which can mean both “the wrong road” and “the wrong way of doing things”) means, in a way, going against the current, not always taking the roads and directions that have already been mapped out, and using another path to get somewhere. That’s actually a bit what I did by choosing to make a living from my passion, music!

If you had to pick one moment that stood out for you while making this single, what would it be?

I think it was when I received the singer’s very first vocal takes. It was obvious straight away: she totally understood the world of the track and the direction I wanted to go in. I was hooked on her voice right away, and the overall idea of the track was already there. It’s a really great moment when you receive a good vocal for a track.

What do you have in store for us in 2017?

I’m currently writing new tracks, as well as remixes that will probably come out during 2017. Gigs are starting to get booked too, and I hope the project keeps growing in that direction.
