The artificial intelligence (AI) revolution in music is sparking as much excitement as debate. Faced with an explosion of AI-generated content, Deezer is unveiling a cutting-edge tool to detect and tag these creations. Developed over a year, the technology has revealed that more than 10% of the tracks recently delivered to the platform were generated by AI, around 10,000 tracks a day.
The new tool isn’t limited to specific models and can detect content from a range of generators, such as Suno and Udio. The goal is clear: protect artists and guarantee greater transparency for users. Deezer plans to exclude these tracks from algorithmic recommendations, while working towards an ethical approach to AI in the music industry.
With two patents filed in December 2024, Deezer is positioning itself as a pioneer in regulating AI in music. The platform also aims to detect deepfake vocals and to keep defending creators’ rights against the threats posed by AI.
As music evolves, Deezer raises a key question: how do we preserve human creativity while embracing technological innovation? A promising step towards more responsible streaming.
