Apple is taking smart listening a step further. With AutoMix, unveiled at WWDC 2025, Apple Music becomes your personal DJ. Built into iOS 26, macOS 26 and the other systems across the Apple ecosystem, this feature uses artificial intelligence to deliver ultra-smooth transitions between tracks, just as a DJ would.
In practice, AutoMix analyses the tempo, rhythmic structure and dynamics of each track in real time to line up the transitions perfectly. The result: a seamless mix, with no abrupt cuts, where tracks flow gently into one another thanks to a clever combination of beatmatching and time stretching.
While the promise brings club mixes to mind, it is also aimed at the general public. There is no external software required here: everything happens inside Apple Music. You simply switch AutoMix on or off in the settings. Feedback, especially on Reddit, is already enthusiastic, particularly among electronic music fans.
AutoMix is part of a series of recent moves: Apple has opened its catalogue to DJs on rekordbox, Serato and djay Pro, and is adding new features to Apple Music such as Music Pins, lyrics translation and karaoke mode.
With AutoMix, Apple isn’t replacing DJs, but offering an enhanced listening experience, designed for anyone who wants non-stop atmosphere without ever having to touch the “next” button.
