Their names may not say much (in French they mean “Someone” and “Mr Everybody”), but their music is another story entirely. Building on a first joint hit with “Noir”, the two artists team up once again for a subtle collaboration blending pop and melancholic electro. As gripping as it is effective, this new single is called “Toi ou moi” and brings together pretty much all the hallmarks of their respective artistic projects: hard-hitting lyrics, two highly recognisable autotuned voices and an ultra-minimalist chilled electro production. The recipe instantly won over Inside Records, the Parisian label that already counts MR TOUT LE MONDE among the protégés on its roster, and now QQUN too.
While the latter has carved out a prime spot in contemporary music with his catchy, melodic productions, he can also easily switch his approach and give his music a much darker feel. On that note, QQUN told us in an interview for Rodmusic that he doesn’t hesitate to share his emotions unfiltered: “Inspiration comes depending on my state of mind, my mood at the time and how the music feels. If I’ve just been dumped, I’m not going to make a track that makes people dance or smile. I don’t cheat with my emotions.” Enough to keep surprising us again and again.
Listen to “Toi ou moi” on all streaming platforms.
