Musical styles have changed a lot in recent years. It isn’t always easy, especially in clubs, to mix music from the 70s and 80s with today’s; the characteristics are completely different (rhythm, instruments…). That’s why many artists have chosen to bring back hits that left their mark on all of us, much to our delight. RODMUSIC has picked a few to share with you:
The Police - Walking On The Moon (Millesim Remix)
To start with, we’ve chosen a remix of the truly legendary band The Police, made by French duo Millesim. This new Chill House version of “Walking On The Moon”, released just over a year ago, is simply gorgeous. Millesim has really kept the very “summery” mood of the original and added more rhythm to the beat, which makes the track far more catchy. It currently has more than 1.5 million plays on SoundCloud: success guaranteed.
A-ha - Take On Me (Kygo Remix)
The second remix is of “Take On Me” by the famous Norwegian band A-ha, made by Kygo. Obviously, with Kygo, success can only follow. This official remix gives a second life to this legendary track and lets us keep enjoying it.
Oasis - Wonderwall ft. Katy McAllister (Monkey Joker Edit)
Remember Oasis too: the band left its mark on the whole world with “Wonderwall”, which has been remixed many times, with one version standing out in particular, by a young French artist: Monkey Joker. In this completely reworked version, singer Katy McAllister lends her voice and leaves us spellbound.
Bob Marley - Jammin’ (Kungs Remix)
A change of register with another track that left its mark on the entire planet: “Jammin’” by Bob Marley. It’s the young and talented Kungs who decided to take on this reggae legend and turn it into a house track. Who would have thought we’d one day be playing Bob Marley in clubs?
Tracy Chapman - Talkin’ Bout A Revolution (Bobby Brush x Deep Chills Remix)
Another iconic figure: singer Tracy Chapman, who had huge success with, among others, “Talkin’ Bout A Revolution”. Bobby Brush and Deep Chills took on this track: they kept the original form and musical structure and added lots of instruments, such as the saxophone, very fashionable lately, which makes the track much more dynamic.
Chris Isaak - Wicked Game (Sonny Alven Remix)
Parra for Cuva ft. Anna Naklab - Wicked Games (Original Mix)
“Wicked Game” is a song that gets covered a huge amount online, with lots of singers trying to match Chris Isaak’s performance, which is simply exceptional. For this one, we’ve chosen to share two versions that are particularly close to our hearts: a remix by Sonny Alven, who kept Chris Isaak’s original vocal, and a cover by Parra For Cuva featuring the sublime voice of Anna.
Bill Withers - Ain’t No Sunshine (Poldoore Remix)
To wrap up, here’s a beautiful “Slow House” version of “Ain’t No Sunshine” by the great Bill Withers, made by Poldoore just over a year ago.
Of course, there are hundreds of other covers out there; RODMUSIC has chosen to share its favourites. Feel free to post other remixes you love in the comments, and follow our Facebook page by clicking HERE.
