It’s official: the LEGO Group and Daft Punk announced a partnership on 22 October. The first project is a set based on the pyramid from the Alive 2007 tour, born from a fan idea.

Rumours had been going round since the day before. On 21 October, a thirty-second teaser aired at the end of the “Daft Punk - WDPK 83.7” broadcast showed a red LEGO brick from behind, its three tubes looking like speakers. The next day, from Billund, LEGO confirmed a partnership with the duo covering products, content and experiences.

The first set doesn’t come out of nowhere. It started as “Daft Punk Concert”, a project submitted to the LEGO Ideas platform by a father and son from Luxembourg, led by Patrick Harboun. Their replica of the Alive 2007 pyramid won the grand prize in the “Music to Our Ears” challenge in 2020, before passing 10,000 supporters on the platform. LEGO is now developing it into an official set. For now, the model shown is still the fans’ version, and the price, release date and piece count are not known.

To go with the announcement, a short film shows the two robots as minifigures chasing a holographic red brick, to “Voyager” and “Human After All”. “Fans have always played an important part in Daft Punk’s story,” says Cédric Hervet, the duo’s creative director.
