The curtain rises once again on one of the most iconic concerts in the history of electronic music. In a video recently released by Coachella, Pedro Winter, aka Busy P, looks back at what went on behind the scenes of Daft Punk’s unforgettable performance at the Californian festival in 2006.
This mini-documentary, simply titled “Busy P Says Oui”, is a fascinating dive into the origins of the concert, now seen as a turning point for the international music scene. With never-before-seen footage, exclusive accounts and thrilling clips from that unforgettable live show, the project reminds us why this moment left a lasting mark on electronic culture.
Pedro Winter, then manager of the helmeted duo and founder of the Ed Banger Records label, reveals some captivating anecdotes. At the time, he was used to turning down show offers for Daft Punk. But an offer from Coachella (350,000 dollars with every expense covered) ended up changing everything. Busy P then decided to consult Thomas Bangalter, a simple phone call that would seal the birth of one of the most iconic shows of all time.

With the LED pyramid designed especially for the occasion, Daft Punk redefined the standards of live performance. The documentary also explores the impact of the event on the rise of the Ed Banger label, paving the way for artists such as Justice, who would shine at the festival’s very next edition.
Directed by Joey Garfield and produced by Goldenvoice, Coachella’s promoter, “Busy P Says Oui” highlights the organisers’ persistence in bringing the French duo to the Californian desert. Stacey Vee, Vice President of Talent at Goldenvoice, even admits: “We couldn’t take no for an answer. We wanted it to happen no matter what.”
More than just a performance, this legendary show transformed the approach to electronic concerts, inspiring generations of artists and festivals around the world.
For every electro fan, this video is an essential immersion in the story of this pivotal moment. One thing is certain: when Pedro Winter said “oui”, he helped write an essential page of contemporary music.
