Fred Again.. x Thomas Bangalter: a historic moment at the Centre Pompidou

Fred Again.. x Thomas Bangalter : un moment historique au Centre Pompidou

If there is one moment nobody will forget in the recent history of electronic music, it’s this one. On Saturday night, at the Centre Pompidou, Fred Again.. shared the decks with Busy P, Erol Alkan… and Thomas Bangalter, the former half of Daft Punk, for a B2B as unexpected as it was legendary. The event celebrated the twentieth anniversary of…

The event celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the Because Music label, just before the museum closes for renovation. And it was in this place steeped in history (the very place where Bangalter discovered rave culture in the early 90s) that things came full circle. Sixteen years after his last public set in Los Angeles for Busy P’s birthday, the French musician reappeared without his helmet, behind the decks, in front of a stunned crowd.

The chemistry between the four artists created a moment suspended in time: a bridge between generations, between the founding French Touch and today’s electronic scene embodied by Fred Again.. The transitions, the knowing looks, the raw energy of the venue: everything was loaded with symbolism. A torch being passed, almost a handover, filmed and shared by thousands of fans on Instagram and YouTube.

A rare moment, full of meaning: a pioneer returning to his roots, the celebration of a legacy, and proof that the magic of electronic music often happens where you least expect it.
